Below are a series of site links that I and others have found useful.  They cover a range of topics from psychology and psychotherapy to forensics, testing, education, and definitions.  I take no responsibility for what you find at the other end of the links, but if you discover a broken link or that something has morphed into a pornographic site since last I checked, please let me know.

Self Help Support

Wings of Madness Depression Guide                                                     Wings of Madness is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping those suffering from depression and providing knowledge about the disorder.  The Site contains thoughtful and often useful information.

AnxietyPanic.com                                                                                   This is a very slick site containing a great deal of information and some pretty impressive graphics. I think that much of the information is useful and informative, but there are ads for things that may be a little fringy, so my advice is to ignore them.

General Information

Mental Health

Trauma Pages                                                                       This is David Baldwin’s excellent website covering all sorts of research-based information on the effects, treatment, evaluation, and understanding of trauma. A true diamond.

Internet Mental Health                                                           This site has a long history and is well thought-of throughout the mental health community.  It is a font a information on many aspects of the subject and is well-regulated.

PsychCentral                                                                           John Grohol’s site is a cornucopia of information about the various disorders, therapies, and medications. His sources seem to be good so I would say the content of the various pages can be trusted.

Encyclopedia of Psychology                                                     The Psychology Department at Jackson State University has hosted this website for many years.  It is a wonderful place to learn about all aspects of the science of psychology with a clear sense that everything has been carefully researched and vetted before getting onto the site.  Another diamond.

Forensics

David’s Forensic Links                                                               This website is a clearinghouse for connection to literally hundreds of other forensic-oriented websites on the Internet.  For that it can be very useful and save you much time if you are looking for something specific.

Carpenter’s Forensic Pages
Reddy’s Forensic Page
Zeno’s Forensic Site
All three of these sites have been around for a long time and are run by professionals in the forensic sciences with
excellent reputations. Anything you want to know about forensic science.

Harvard Forensic Psychiatry and Medicine                             As you would expect from such a source, the information is voluminous, sophisticated, and very medically technical. It is an excellent site for information of that nature.

Forensic Psychology Education

Suite 101 - Forensic Psychology                                                 General and basic information about preparing for the field.

John Jay College of Criminal Justice PhD in Forensic Psychology         This is the site for the premier doctoral program in forensic psychology in the country.

About Psychotherapy                                                               Large and varied site with a great deal of information about all kinds of psychotherapeutic endeavors.  Excellent source of information.

Assessment

Psychological Testing                                                                             Large site with many articles and descriptions of all the various kinds of psychological assessment instruments.  Research seems up to date.

Ken Pope’s Psychology Site                                                               This is the website of one of the premier researchers and authors of the MMPI, MMPI-2, and MMPI-A.  It is fascinating to read his comments and you can be sure that his citings and research is very up-to-date.  Well worth the time to visit occasionally.

Psychotherapy Resources

Compassion Power                                                                             Steve Stosny’s website contains information and tools for helping a person deal with anger mismanagement.  In addition to the book, which is listed on the previous page, of particular use is the “Heals” CD which allows one to practice the techniques daily.

Psychology Today Therapy Directory                                             4Therapy.com                                                                                 The Therapeutic Directory                                                                   These are three of the websites to which one can go to find a therapist in your area. There are many others also, but these are three of the largest and most subscribed. They seem to have the largest choices in specific areas.

ABCT Find-a-Therapist                                                                       Like the links above, this helps you find a therapist, but because it is a site run by the American Association of Behavior Therapy, the clinicians listed are all either behavioral or cognitive/behavioral.
